Inspired by the Brazil Ramp House at the client’s request, the Miami Beach Ramp House is the culmination of a lifelong vision for this active senior couple.
The Ramp House, a first of its kind in South Florida, adopts a minimalist style with raw concrete and expansive glass. Abundant natural light is mitigated by deep overhangs and dense, native landscaping.

The long and narrow geometry of the site inherently facilitates passive design, allowing the shortest elevations on the east and west. To the south, careful attention was paid to the rhythm and proportion of the fenestration with syncopated views and daylight.
The angled gesture along the north façade was introduced to achieve the physical space necessary for the length of ramp required, resulting in a chiseled, sculptured effect. A reflecting pool is added to this gouge to accentuate the angle and further soften the dappled sunlight from the north.
